Aaron
Master Electrician & Founder
I didn’t set out to become an electrician. Fresh out of high school, I was working as a grunt hand at a small fiberglass aviation shop, doing body work on aircraft — and planning on college, not a trade. When that shop dissolved, the aviation work dried up fast in Colorado, and I took whatever came next. A mutual connection led me to an electrical apprenticeship I figured was a temporary way to make summer cash.
It didn’t stay temporary. I got hooked on the trade almost immediately, and started studying it far beyond what my apprenticeship required, because I wanted to actually understand it, not just get through it. I earned my first license within a couple of years and spent the next decade working my way through several companies — picking up not just electrical skill, but customer service, sales, and business management along the way.
Somewhere in those ten years, not long before I earned my Master Electrician license, it finally clicked why I’d always wanted to run my own company. I’d seen the same gaps repeat themselves at every employer — the same places clients got shortchanged, rushed, or left in the dark. Copperton exists to close those gaps specifically. It’s not a company built around what’s easiest to sell; it’s built around what I wished I could have offered clients the whole time I was working for someone else.
Copperton is built to serve a range of premium electrical needs, but one specialty in particular is personal to me: large equestrian and acreage properties. My wife has been actively involved in professional horses for years, and through her I’ve come to understand something most electricians never get exposed to — how much the electrical behind a facility actually affects it. Lighting, power reliability, and how a barn is wired all show up in the animals themselves: healthier horses, better performance, a real competitive edge for the people running these properties. It’s a niche few contractors serve and even fewer understand, and it’s one I take seriously.
Colorado isn’t just where I work — it’s home in the deepest sense. I’m a sixth-generation Colorado native; my son makes seven. My family has been here since the 1800s. That’s not a marketing line, it’s just true, and it’s part of why I care about doing this work well for the people and properties around me.
Outside of work, I’m a husband and father first. I’m also a private pilot, which brings things full circle back to where this all started in that aviation shop, and I spend as much time as I can out in Colorado’s backcountry with my family.
When you hire Copperton, you’re not handed off to a stranger. You’re working directly with me — the same person who’s spent ten years learning this trade the right way, for the same reasons I started this company in the first place.
